Volunteer Training Programs
Centre for Loss and Life Transition, Fort Collins, Colorado
A 4-day training program on grief and loss offered by Dr. Alan Wolfelt in Colorado. His philosophy of Companioning, is the "art of bringing comfort to another by becoming familiar with their story, their experiences, and their needs. These courses are designed to meet the needs of caregivers from a variety of backgrounds, including hospice staff and volunteers, mental health care providers, social workers, clergy, school personnel, funeral directors, nurses and physicians, students, as well as lay people."

Hospice Society of Camrose and District, Camrose, AB
The Camrose Hospice Society has a volunteer training program which runs on the weekends.

Pet Therapy Society, Edmonton, AB
Edmonton program that trains teams (pet and owner) to be a visiting team. Going through this program gives you license to visit facilities, but any volunteer would have to still take the formal volunteer training program.
