Who is a volunteer?
A palliative care volunteer is an individual who enjoys meeting people, is comfortable with someone who is terminally ill, and wants to make a difference in their own lives and the lives of those they visit.
What does a palliative care volunteer do?
Palliative care volunteers provide comfort and support to people and families living with terminal illness in the home, hospital, hospice, and palliative care unit, provide contact with families through the time of bereavement following death, and do special tasks such as help with baking, hosting weekly teas, providing musical entertainment, etc.
Volunteering was such an enriching experience. I learned so much!
